E/M from A to Z is a comprehensive CD-based interactive course. This self-paced CD-ROM course provides in-depth coverage of the guidelines, coding, and documentation requirements for all evaluation and management services found in the CPT. It will answer questions about reporting and documenting E/M services. The course engages the user with interactive practice questions and case studies.


This course is available in the traditional CD-ROM media, or our exclusive Cloud-CD™ format. With Cloud-CD™ format, your computer won’t need a CD/DVD drive to run the course, but you will need access to the Internet. The self-paced nature of the course allows you to work at your own pace. This is also an excellent way to satisfy the continuing education provision of the compliance plan of a physician practice or third party billing firm.


This course has been pre-approved for 18.0 Continuing Education Units from the AAPC. CEUs can be split between Core (CPC, CPC-H, CPC-P, CPB, CPPM) and CEMC specialty credential. You can also earn the same number of CEUs from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). So for a reasonable expense, you’ll be able to tune up your knowledge and fulfill a large portion of your annual CEU requirement!

  • Chapter 1 – Timing E/M Services
    Criteria to base services either on level of service provided or time provided, along with documentation of these services.

  • Chapter 2 – Office Visits
    E/M office visit codes and guidelines.

  • Chapter 3 – Hospital Observation
    Purpose of observation, when observation time starts, initial/subsequent observation care, observation codes.

  • Chapter 4 – Hospital Inpatient Services
    Codes for initial and subsequent inpatient care, hospital admission, what’s included in the hospital care package, transferring care, documentation of services.

  • Chapter 5 – Hospital Discharge Services
    Time factors of discharge, what’s included in discharge services, reporting a two physician discharge, when to report discharge, documentation of services.

    Services and codes defined. When it’s appropriate to report these codes, delivery and resuscitation services, circumcisions, initial care for normal newborns, documentation are discussed in this chapter.

  • Chapter 11 – Pediatric Intensive Critical Care Services
    Pediatric critical care transport services and codes, reporting time for transport services, control physician services and codes, physical presence of physician during transport, admission of patient after transport, documentation of services and transport time. Inpatient neonatal and pediatric critical care services, codes, and guidelines, transfer of care of critical neonate or pediatric patient. Continuing care intensive pediatric care, reporting low birth weight codes.

  • Chapter 12 – Technology and E/M
    Technology has changed how medical information is obtained and managed. This chapter covers how information is obtained, stored, and used remotely.
